Economic Affairs and Public Sector Investment Planning (PSIP)

The Department of Economic Affairs and Public Sector Investment Planning within the Ministry of Sustainable Development is responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP).  The Department is also responsible for monitoring the achievement of objectives and indicators under the National Adaptation Strategy 2006-2017, and is instrumental in facilitating donor coordination in order to support the GSKN’s development planning activities and the prioritization of initiatives for donor assistance.

•    Appraise capital projects and analyze capital expenditure

•    Prepare and maintain the Public Sector Investment Programme

The Department of Economic Affairs and PSIP is responsible for providing strategic guidance which would enable the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis (GSKN) to implement its development agenda which would redound to the economic and social development of the Federation. As the development trajectory continues to evolve it is vital that the outcomes are sustainable and bring benefits to all in the society. In this regard, the Department has undertaken critical roles in the development process which include but are not limited to functions as support staff for the Office of the National Authorising Officer (NAO) in relations with the European Union and the European Development Fund (EDF) and the Accompanying Measures for Sugar Protocol (AMSP) Countries Budget Support; the Project Management Unit (PMU) for several initiatives which include the Enhanced Public Sector Governance and Efficiency Project and the SIGTAS Enhancement Project; the support operations for the Global Environment Facility Operational Focal Point; coordination of initiatives with several other bilateral and multi-lateral partners such as the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), World Bank (WB), the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and the Ibero-america South-South Cooperation; monitoring of the annual Capital Budget; compilation and maintenance of the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP); and the monitoring and compilation of annual progress reports for the National Adaptation Strategy (NAS). The Department is headed by a Director and currently has ten (10) officers which provide services to the GSKN in the role of Senior Project Analyst, Economist, Social Planner, Project Analyst, Accountant and Assistant Project Analyst.
