Her Majesty’s Prison serves the public by keeping in custody those committed by the courts.  Our duty is to care for them with humanity and help them with lead law abiding and useful lives in custody and after release.

Vision

Our vision is to provide a service which the public can be proud of and which will be regarded as a standard of excellence around the world.

Goals

The principle goals of the prison service are to:

  1. Keep the prisoners in custody(Security)
  2. Maintain order, control, discipline and a safe environmental surroundings (Control)
  3. Provide decent conditions for prisioners and meet their needs including health care (Care)
  4. Provide positive regimes(Methods) which help prisoners address their offending behaviors (Purpose)
  5. Help prisoners prepare for their return in the community(Progress)
  6. Delivering prison services using the resources provided by Parliament with maximum efficiency (Efficiency)

St. Kitts was once known as the Gibraltar of the West Indies for its domination of 18th- century colonial battles. How the island rose to become the world’s leader in sugarcane cultivation, an inspiration for the industrial revolution in the process.
