The Department of Physical Planning, Department of Physical Planning is part of the Ministry of Sustainable Development. The Department of Physical Planning is responsible for the implementation of the provisions of the Development Control and Planning Act, Chapter. 20:07 of the Laws of St. Christopher and Nevis.

 

Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Physical Planning is to promote the physical development of St. Kitts. This is done in accordance with the provisions and objectives of the Development Control and Planning Act. This include the orderly, efficient and equitable planning and development of the resources of St. Kitts taking account of all the relevant social, economic and environmental factors.

 

Vision Statement

The vision of the Department of Physical Planning is to guide and assist in the orderly development of St. Kitts and to protect and conserve the cultural heritage of St. Kitts as it finds expression in the natural and built environment. The Department of Physical Planning will also facilitates continuous improvements in the quality of life of all the people of St. Kitts through a process of orderly and sustainable development.

St. Kitts was once known as the Gibraltar of the West Indies for its domination of 18th- century colonial battles. How the island rose to become the world’s leader in sugarcane cultivation, an inspiration for the industrial revolution in the process.
