ADMISSION
Admission of patients to the institution shall be by one of three (3) methods:

I:\Gaili-I 2\Ministry_of_Health\GFX\blue_Arrow.gif Patients referred by medical or dental practitioners.

All patients for admission to the institution shall be seen at the institution, at such hours as may from time to time be fixed, except in cases of accident or serious illness.

 

ACCOMMODATION

The Joseph N. France General Hospital offers preferred comfortable, attractive, private rooms, semi-private rooms and open room accommodations at the following rates:

I:\Gaili-I 2\Ministry_of_Health\GFX\blue_Arrow.gif Hospital Fees will only be collected from Nationals on the Paediatric Ward if covered by Health Insurance or if Private accommodation is requested by relatives.

I:\Gaili-I 2\Ministry_of_Health\GFX\blue_Arrow.gif Hospital Fees will be collected from Non-Nationals on the Paediatric Ward whether or not covered by Health Insurance.

Private rooms have access to Telephone, Cable TV and Internet at an additional cost. Both Private and Semi-Private rooms are air-conditioned.

Private and Semi-Private rooms may not always be available when you are admitted. However, every effort will be made to transfer you to your preferred accommodation as quickly as possible.

 

HOSPITAL BILL AND INSURANCE

Fees For Services
Payments for hospital fees are your responsibility. You may have insurance(s) which will cover added costs. Therefore, you are encouraged to review your insurance coverage prior to admission.

Your hospital bill includes your room charges, pharmaceutical, laboratory & radiology services, surgical and recovery room fees, therapy and other services required for your care.

 

PATIENT CONFIDENTIALITY

Your Medical Record Information is confidential. Unless instructed by you, information of a general nature may be released to relatives and friends.

WHAT TO BRING

Please bring to the hospital a small-medium sized (weekend) bag with only necessities including personal hygiene articles such as; a brush, comb, toothbrush and toothpaste, personal cosmetic items, pyjamas/night gowns, housecoat and slippers. The hospital does not supply these items. Children are encouraged to bring a favourite toy that does not have any removable parts such as buttons for eyes or nose since they may choke a child.

Dress Code:

Appropriate hospital attire is required at all times (nightgown and duster, pyjamas and bedroom slippers).

MEDICATION

Please bring all medication/drugs which you are currently taking to the hospital. Notify the doctor/nurse of such medication and hand them over to the charge nurse on admission. If its continued use is approved, the medication will be provided for you from the hospital pharmacy. Prescribed medication that you brought with you to the hospital will be identified and returned to you or a family member to take home.

WHAT NOT TO BRING

Valuables:

The J. N. F. Hospital administration and staff members will not accept responsibility for personal articles such as jewelry or money. DO NOT bring valuables to the hospital. Money can be put in safekeeping and retrieved upon request.

Dentures and partial plates should be kept in an appropriate container when you are not wearing them. Do not conceal these items in tissue or bedclothes since they may be accidentally discarded or taken to the laundry

MEALS

Our Food Service Department is committed to providing nutritious and appetizing meals. It may be necessary for your physician to prescribe a special diet for you. If you have any personal dietary needs (vegetarian, food allergies etc.) please inform the nurse on admission.

 

Meals are served between the following hours:

Early morning drink ( milk-Diabetics )

6:00 a.m

Breakfast

7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m

Mid-morning drink ( Diabetics )

10.00 a.m

Lunch

12:00 noon -1:00 p.m

Supper

5:30 pm – 6:30 p.m

Patients are not allowed to have food and/or beverages brought into the hospital except by doctors permission. Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited.

HOUSEKEEPING SERVICES

Our Housekeeping Service Staff will clean the wards/rooms on a daily basis. If anything in the ward/room needs our immediate attention, please let us know.

Personal laundering services are not provided at the hospital

SPIRITUAL NEEDS

Your priest/minister is allowed special visiting rights in accordance with the rules/regulations of the hospital.

Non-denominational services are held on Sunday mornings at 10:00 am . Hospital attire is acceptable.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

A convenient nurse-call system, located at your bed head, may be activated by pressing a button. When the buzzer goes off a nurse will respond as soon as possible. You should call your nurse when necessary.

Always ask for help getting out of bed if you feel weak, unsteady, or have been instructed by your physician or nurse to obtain assistance. DO NOT lower the side rails on your bed when they have been put in use for your safety.

Patients should not leave their ward/unit without permission from the doctor or nursing staff.

Safety requirements demands that privately owned electrical items such as fans, televisions and radios must be checked by a member of the hospital Maintenance Department before installation.

Radios should be of a small size, preferably with earphones. Televisions should not be larger than 12 inches. The volume of radios, cassettes/CD players and televisions must be kept to a minimum.

For your good health, smoking is not permitted anywhere in the Hospital.

No weapons or sharp objects are allowed on the wards.

DO NOT leave your vehicle on the hospital grounds over-night. If you’re going to be in hospital for a period of time, please arrange for a friend or relative to drive your vehicle home.

• Maximum speed limit on the grounds of the hospital is 5 mph.
• Vehicular sound systems must be kept to a minimum.
• Loud blowing of vehicular horns is prohibited.
• Bicycle and/or scooter riding is not allowed on the corridors.
